You know what’s funny about this? That Dan wanted to be “in” with this crowd, but apparently he knew all about the four of them and their twisted secrets before he even had his foot in the door. He could see from afar that Nate had a thing for Serena. He knew Blair had deep-seated jealousy issues when it came to Serena. Why did he have to “write” himself in? Why make it public and obvious, when he could’ve been subversive and alienated Serena from this world in the exact way he did in the pilot?

There’s no reason that any of this needed to happen.
